Summer Day Camps

 Summer Camp 2018

Camping with a Purpose

Our exceptional programs encompass all of what the Y is and stands for: developing youth, fostering new friendships, teaching new skills and activities and much more—all while keeping our campers safe and well cared for. Through the direction of our staff, campers will gain new abilities, challenge themselves with the unexplored and learn to work with others as a team. Nothing is more rewarding than watching a camper’s joy as they learn a new skill or meet new friends. Here at the YMCA of Wooster we have eager role models that are excited to share this experience with you!

Dedicated Staff

What sets us apart is our passionate and dedicated staff. YMCA of Wooster camps are led by a full-time professional director. Our summer staff is selected for their strong character, maturity, enthusiasm and commitment to our Y values and serves as “Professional Role Models” for our campers. We provide extensive staff training, drills and preparation which include criminal background checks, first aid and CPR training.

Summer Reading Program

The YMCA and Wooster City Schools partner together to ensure at-risk readers can attend summer day camp programs while also receiving summer reading support. Students will be invited to attend the Summer Reading Program by their teachers at Parent-Teacher Conferences in March. Wooster City Schools and the YMCA work together to provide transportation, ensuring a smooth transition occurs between programs.

Breakfast & Lunch

Each Camp site offers breakfast and lunch available as part of the camp registration. Breakfast is served approximately at 8:30 am and Lunch at 12:00 pm.

Extended Care

We provide a supervised extension to a camper’s typical day for the YMCA Day Camp only. This cost of extended care is included in camp fees. Morning care is 6:30 am-Camp and Afternoon care is Camp-6 pm.

The SPOT does not have extended care options.

Y Cares Financial Assistance

Through generous donation and volunteer support we are able to send hundreds of children to camp every summer who may not have afforded our programs otherwise. The YMCA of Wooster offers financial assistance for families who qualify. If you need assistance with the application or have questions please don’t hesitate to contact us. If you would like to support the Strong Kids Campaign and send a child to camp please make a pledge at the YMCA of Wooster.
